Independent, commercially grounded business valuations to support better decisions.
As a Registered Business Valuer (RBV), FCPA and Certified Practising Business Broker (CPBB), I provide independent business valuations for business owners, buyers, accountants and other professional advisers who require a reasoned and supportable assessment of business value.
Valuations may be required for business sales and acquisitions, succession planning, shareholder or partnership changes, restructuring, ownership transitions and other commercial decisions.
Supporting Accountants and Professional Advisers
A significant focus of my valuation practice is working with accountants and other trusted advisers who require an independent valuation resource for their clients.
I understand the importance of the accountant-client relationship. My role is to support that relationship, not compete with it.
I can work collaboratively with the referring accountant throughout the engagement, including consideration of financial information, maintainable earnings, normalisation adjustments and other factors relevant to determining value.
Your client remains your client. My role is to provide the specialist valuation support you require.
A Commercially Grounded Approach
A professional business valuation involves considerably more than simply applying a multiple to reported profit.
Depending on the nature of the business and the purpose of the engagement, I consider matters such as underlying and maintainable earnings, assets and liabilities, owner remuneration, discretionary expenditure, operational and financial risks, industry conditions, competitive position, future prospects and relevant market evidence.
Appropriate valuation methodologies are then applied to arrive at a reasoned, supportable and commercially meaningful conclusion of value.
Business Valuation or Market Appraisal?
A business valuation provides an independent assessment of value based on recognised valuation principles, financial analysis and supporting evidence.
A market appraisal, by comparison, considers the price at which a business may reasonably be expected to sell in the current market.
Both can be valuable, but they serve different purposes.
